I am Kelly Dannemann, Owner at Timelesskreationsdez.etsy.com and Tkdz.etsy.com and a youtube content creator with sewing tutorials find my youtube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCm5sFcxe-9GzZYwNiDdTNaQ

I had posted on facebook, about my 12 year old Juki, that recently was upgraded to make some content videos for youtube. Was asked alot of questions and if I could include some photos.

So, I thought this would be an outstanding blog to share, for those looking to upgrade the 1181 Juki walking foot sewing machine, without having to pay for the only expensive one out there.

So lets get started:

Let me get started on my upgrade for the drop down seam guide, I did a lot of research, I thought at first I would be able just install a normal drop down, but that is not the fact, here is what the back of my 12 year old 1181 looks like, normally for the seam guide, it should be horizontal not vertical, in reference, I looked at the cobra class 6 to see how they installed theirs, you will need an adaptor Vertical mount or you can buy a very expensive seam guide, which I opted out of, cause I wanted mine to be exactly like the one I have on my tech sew 4800. Below I will drop links with explanations on how to install it. I bought everything from amazon, so first you need to look at the back of your Juki 1181, the newer models may have horizontal screw bed, and mine again was vertical. Hope this helps someone!!

Facebook is https://www.facebook.com/timelesskreationsdez always open for video suggestions to help us all out, this is really an easy install. See images below

The yellow highlighted holes are where the screws and mount location is for the drop down seam guide, Identify if yours is vertical or horizontal, if your is horizontal, you do not need to know about the adaptor, but you may need to extend out for it to fit properly. See next image for the adaptor and where to get it.

This is what the vertical mount looks like when finished installing for the DNU Juki 1181

EverNice VERTICAL MOUNT: Adaptor Bracket of Suspended Edge Guide for Consew Juki Singer Walking Foot Machine, This one worked on my 12 Year old Juki:

You may have to get additional screws to fit your holes in the back, I ended up having extra, because I bought the wrong one from cpkms, See links below, they are not expensive, so you might want to get both, cause my understanding the year your Juki 1181 was made, some of the parts were changed out. So, this is the adaptor you need. EverNice, but here is the extra one to have on hand from CPkms: Link below also with an addition image, this image is the EverNice, the difference is the Evernice has a more narrow edge on one side, that fit my Juki with great excellence.

This is an extra one in the event that evernice does not fit, I got both

Verticle mount from CKPMS

Getting into the nitty gritty, this is the one that I love and have on my techsew 4800 it is a GB-6, You do not have to get this brand, but this model number, here is the link for this, I use the flat l shaped seam guide, not the circular guide, one for my needs, bags, purses, wallets, straps. CKPSMS Brand - 1SET Suspended (Hanging) Edge Guide#GB-6 Link: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0774FZWTN?

Once you have all your parts in and ready to assemble, test your screws to make sure they fit in the back holes from the machine, part one of post in yellow highlight, then test the bracket, turn it to see which way fits best on your machine, I have the skinny side to the outside of the machine, then assemble the GB-6 to the horizontal holes and tighten, then put your vertical bracket to the machine lining up the screws with the holes, be sure to put washers on see image: then adjust it to yur liking and Happy Sewing, I LOVE MINE SEE IMAGES BELOW.👀

Drop down seam guide

One thing to note, if you have a security band protecting your foot, you will need to snip it off or use a different foot for your machine, cause when u lift it up and down you will have to constantly adjust the feet for the drop down, I love the seam allowance guide, so much better then the tape or other stuff.
